Welcome to Worplesdon Parish

What's OnLatest News

We are a friendly, open and welcoming church community, with enjoyable worship and a relaxed atmosphere. We believe that God calls us to be at the heart of the area, serving the needs of the whole parish including the communities of Worplesdon, Wood Street and Fairlands. This means that we try to reflect the love of God in all that we say and do, growing closer to each other as caring friends and neighbours.

Newcomers are always welcome and we hope that you will find a spiritual home here – all are truly welcome.

Our Services

We offer a range of worship services which we hope will appeal to you. Services at the parish church, St Mary’s, are rather more traditional while those at St Alban’s are less formal. We look forward to seeing you at either church.

New to Church?

Welcome to all newcomers – whether you have a Christian faith or maybe none but just wish to explore what faith means, and everything in between. We look forward to meeting you, getting to know you and sharing with you what we do.

Special Events

Throughout the year we celebrate several Christian festivals, the main ones at Christmas and Easter but also others. Please check the calendar for more details. We also have a programme of social events – see our News and Events pages for more details.

Our Churches

St. Mary's Church, Worplesdon

A site of Christian worship for over 1000 years, St Mary’s is a traditional church with many historic features set in a beautiful and tranquil Churchyard. Our services at St Mary’s are more traditional with robed clergy and often a choir. We hope that all visitors to St Mary’s, whether for Sunday worship or at other times just to look around or maybe for a quiet time of prayer and reflection, will find peace in this lovely setting.

St. Alban's Church, Wood Street Village

Welcome to St Alban’s which is a more modern church built in the 1960s. Someone once compared it to a big tent to include all God’s people – whether Christian believers or not. Our services at St Alban’s are more informal and intended to be accessible, especially for newcomers, with modern music, words displayed on screen and a singing group. We welcome very young people and have a well equipped children’s area with toys, books, games and colouring.  We look forward to seeing you there. See the calendar for service times and types at St Alban’s.
